Educational Assessment in New York State

In May and June of 2010, school districts in New York State, including Yonkers, Nassau and Eastern Suffolk Counties BOCES, and New York Charter Schools successfully scored K-12 assessment tests utilizing OSC’s Educational Assessment Scoring System.

Several challenges had to be overcome to make OSC’s electronic scoring system accessible to New York State school districts:

 

1) New York mandates that only certified teachers can score.

  • OSC worked with each school district to train their own teachers or provided the certified teachers
    needed to complete the scoring team.

2) Companies that offer electronic scoring services only process assessment tests that adhere to their own rigid specifications.
